The COD Killer

  Introduction



         Titanfall is the next big thing. Everyone has been talking about COD ( Call of Duty) for all these years, but now it's Titanfall's turn. Titanfall is a first person shooter game. The game was made

by a game by the former Modern Warfare developers, Respawn Entertainment. The release date of Titanfall is March 11, 2014. However, this is bad news for all you playstation lovers because Titanfall is only available for Xbox one, Xbox 360, and PC. I for one, am very disappointed.

      Opinion

          Many people have been wondering, is this the end for Call of Duty. I think Call of Duty will always be a fan favorite and a classic, but Titanfall will definitely be a top game, maybe even game of the year. However, I am very disappointed that Titanfall will not be coming out for playstation.

                                                     Gameplay

Titanfall has a very unique style of play. (Of course, you can play online). In this game, opposed to other games, the player either goes around on foot or controls a titan. The titans add a lot of action in the game. Another way the action is increased is by adding bots. There are many different maps and game modes you can play. The style of play online is not comparable with other first person shooters such as, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Metal Gear Solid, etc.. This is something new, unique, and you will have a wonderful time playing this game.

Lionel Messi was born on. June 24, 1987. He was born in Rosaria, Santa Fe Province. At age 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. But, he was still recruited to Barcelona on the deal that they pay for all of Messi's medical bills. Messi and his father moved to Barcelona, Spain.

 Messi's parents are Jorge Horacio Messi and Celia Maria Ceccittini. As of current times, Messi's wife is
Antello Reccuzzo. His only son is named Thiago Messi.

    Lionel Messi Quotes

"You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it."  I think that this quote is completely true and this helped him be a pro in soccer. 

"When the year starts the objective is to win it all with the team, personal records are secondary." I think that this is the thinking that helped Messi set team and personal records and why he is such a help to his team.

"What I do is play soccer, which is what I like." I think this inspires people to do what they like and what they are passionate about. 

                          Messi Life Accomplishments

1. When Ronaldhino left Barcelona, Messi was given number 10. During that season Messi had placed second in the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year. He had scored 678 goals and also placed third in the 2008 IFFHS World's Best Playmaker Award for the second year. I think that this proves why Messi is arguably the greatest player. This inspires me by showing me that you can do anything if you put the time and effort into it.
2. In 2012, Messi was given the title of most hat-tricks in the season. I think that this shows that Messi 
3. Messi had gotten the title of most goals scored in a year. He had beaten Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals and made a world record of 91 goals in one year.

FROST-e The Snowman

Introduction

Robert Lee Frost was born March 26th, 1874. He died January 29, 1963. Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, California. He got his inspiration from the nature in his farm. Robert Frost was an American poet who received four Pulitzer Prizes for poetry. He was also a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity, while he was studying at Dartmouth College.

Opinion 

The Soldier 

He is that fallen lance that lies as hurled,

                      That lies unlifted now, come dew, come rust,                    

But still lies pointed as it plowed the dust.

If we who sight along it round the world,

See nothing worthy to have been its mark,

It is because like men we look too near,

Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere,

Our missiles always make too short an arc.

They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect

The curve of earth, and striking, break their own;

They make us cringe for metal-point on stone.

But this we know, the obstacle that checked

And tripped the body, shot the spirit on

Further than target ever showed or shone.

I think this poem is saying that this person that the poet is talking about has stayed strong and held his ground in hard times. This poem stuck out to me because it had a great theme/ message. This isn't necessarily a poem i relate to, but it really stood out to me. I think that the poet was happy person because the poem "The Soldier" was about staying positive and strong in hard times.

                              Emphasis On The Poem

The rhyme scheme of the poem "The Soldier" is A,B,B,A. This poem has 3 quatrains and one couplet. This poem also uses a lot of personification. One example is "

They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect". The use of personification emphasis the message/ theme of the poem. It makes reading the poem more interesting opposed to reading this like a paragraph.

What are Rip Currents

                                                                     

Introduction

Rip currents are when you feel like you are being dragged away by the water. This usually occurs at the beach. When you are in the water, you might feel as if you are being dragged away from the shore and are starting to sink. Well that is a rip current or undertow. Some rip currents can be deadly. To avoid being dragged to sea by a rip tide, you have to swim sideways until you find a place where the tides aren't strong enough to pull you away and then start swimming to shore. The strength of rip currents depend on the location and how the shoreline is shaped.

 

 

 

My Opinion

 

 

In my opinion, rip currents are dangerous. But if you are a strong swimmer or you know how to escape a rip tide, then you will be fine. Rip tides don't scare me that much and they are definitely not going to stop me from swimming in the beach. Rip tides aren't something I really worry about when I go to the beach.

Can Fortune Cookies Predict the Fututre

 

Introduction

 

Everyone enjoys a fortune cookie after they have finished their main course. But one debate that has been going on for a long time is if fortune cookies can actually predict the future. Sometimes they can be right and often you have no idea what they are saying and it's not true. The fortune is usually found on a slip of paper that is placed inside the cookie. Most people believe that fortune cookies do not predict the future. But it is possible that the lucky numbers could help you win the lottery someday.

 

 

 

My Opinion

 

I think that fortune cookies cannot actually predict the future because it is just a small piece of paper found inside of a cookie. Sometimes it might be lucky that the fortune is true, but that is very rare.

But I still always get  fortune cookies because they still count as "dessert". Many people can believe what they want about the magic of fortune cookies, but this is what I believe to be true.

The 2014 Winter Olympics

                                           Introduction

As many of you might know, the 2014 Winter Olympics are taking place on February 7th to February 23rd. This event includes sports such as snowboarding, many types of skiing, ice hockey, curling, and much more. The Olympics take place every four years and in a different location. This year it is being held in Sochi, Russia.

My Opinion

 

I don't know about you, but I am pretty excited for this year's Winter Olympics. They are hosting the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. I find that a bit inconvenient for people in the US, or any other countries that are far away from Russia, because we won't be able to witness the Winter Olympics live or be close to the action. But I still have a feeling that these Winter Olympics will turn out pretty good.

The Inventor of Basketball

                   Introduction

Basketball is the number one sport in the US right now. But basketball has been around for a very long time. It was invented in 1891 in Massachusetts. Basketball was invented by a physical education teacher named Dr. James Naismith. Naismith was trying to invent a game that could be enjoyed indoors when it got cold outside in Massachusetts. He used a soccer ball and two peach baskets that were placed high in the air. There were nine players in each team and thirteen rules. The first game of basketball was played on December 21st, 1891.

 

 

 

                My Opinion

I think that Dr. James Naismith did a great job on inventing such an enjoyable game, also keeping in mind that he only had two weeks. Basketball is my second favorite sport and is really fun to play in your spare time. The best part is that you can play this game any time of the year because it's played indoors. I am surprised at how much this game has changed and advanced throughout this years. Who would have thought that such a simple game to become the most enjoyed sport in the US.
